Baseline was engaged to undertake the repair and replacement of the fixed boom within the ship refuelling station at Chowder Bay. Baseline undertook 3 months of detailed planning, underwater surveys, investigations, and risk assessments to design and develop a project execution to mitigate risk and ensure works were completed in a prompt and safe manner whilst managing the expectations of the client and end users.
Project risks included communication between client and Defence end users, project design and fit-for-purpose deliverables, environmental impacts, refuelling operations, vessel traffic authority clearance and approvals, high-risk works, and overwater and underwater installations whilst maintaining operational capabilities within the Naval environments and facilities.
By undertaking extensive design and planning, Baseline was able to deliver all works to accommodate the installation the new fixed boom and customised components suitable for the various Naval fleet. All works were completed on time and within budget whilst maintaining strict operational capability. Refuelling operations resuming immediately upon completion of the works.
