Seamless 2-week installation of a new 20m steel gantry within a high-risk, live environment

Baseline was engaged to undertake structural and infrastructure upgrades to support the replacement of the METS 40 training facility at HMAS Albatross. Baseline undertook 3 months of detailed planning, investigations and risk assessments to develop a project execution that mitigated risk and ensured works were completed in a prompt and safe manner whilst managing client and end-user expectations.

Project risks included communication, delivery and installation of METS 40 & Twin Gantry Hoist from Canada with Survival Systems Ltd during the COVID-19 pandemic, structural steel installations with the use of plant equipment and cranage, high-risk works, and installations over water whilst maintaining operational capabilities within the surround building and gymnasium facilities.

By undertaking extensive investigation and planning, Baseline was able to deliver all project works to accommodate the installation of the new METS 40 training equipment and associated structural and service infrastructure. Baseline completed all project works on time and within budget whilst maintaining strict operational capability. National training resumed immediately upon completion of the works.
