The scope of works for this project involved a major refurbishment, including re-roofing, of the Supply Complex Building which houses office areas, warehouse operations and Key ICT infrastructure supporting the Defence network connection on base.
The Warehouse office/administration and specialty storage area required updating of painted surfaces, flooring, ceilings, and lighting. Wet areas and kitchen amenities in the office and warehouse areas required full refurbishment. The main UPS and Comms rooms were also refurbished. Fire compliance tasks were required, including the installation of signage and sprinkler systems, replacement of the existing FIP and smoke detection systems, and updating of the exit lighting.
During the planning stage, Baseline worked closely with Defence to develop an innovative re-roofing methodology to allow warehouse operations to continue below with no, or minimal, interference from construction activities. This involved retaining existing roof sheeting and installing new sheeting on risers above. Critically, this eliminated the live-edge risk, creating a safer working environment above, and removed the need for exclusion zones below that would have interrupted existing operations.
